Dato’ Darawati Hussain is the Director of Syalin Sdn Bhd, a family investment firm. Her most recent post with CIMB Group was as Director, Fund and Co-Investor Relations in the Group Strategy and Strategic Investments Division (CIMB GSSI). She has over 20 years of corporate finance, asset management, and private equity expertise. She began her career in the corporate consulting team of the CIMB Group (Malaysia), where she concentrated in mergers & acquisitions and capital raising projects. She also spent five years in London as a European stocks portfolio manager for a US fund management firm with US$70 billion in assets under management (AUM).
She returned to CIMB Group in 2001 to establish and grow the private equity franchise formerly known as CIMB Private Equity and Venture Capital, where she spearheaded the push to establish Shariah-compliant private equity funds. Dato’ Darawati is also the Chairman of RHB Private Equity Holdings Sdn. Bhd. and an Independent Director of Magna Prima Berhad. She is also a Director of many private-limited firms engaged in a variety of enterprises, including strategic crisis management communication and HSE consultancy.
Dato’ Darawati previously served as the Chairperson of the Malaysia Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (MVCA) and as a committee member of the Malaysia Venture Capital Development Corporation (MVCDC) under SC. She remains an active member of the MVCA. She was also a member of the Investment Committee for the equity funds managed by Agensi Innovasi Malaysia, a subsidiary of the Prime Minister’s office. She also serves on the boards of RHB Investment Bank Berhad, PRH Private Equity Fund (PEFL), Syalin Sdn Bhd, Subur Bangga Sdn Bhd, and others.
She chairs the Board Investment Committee and a member of the Board Procurement Committee of MAVCAP.
